The Abia State Governor Alex Otti has commissioned three newly reconstructed roads in Aba including Udeagbala Road, Umuimo Road, and MCC/Old Express Road.
While commissioning the road projects in Aba in the company of the General Overseer, Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministry Pastor Lazarus Mouka Governor Otti described the roads as strategic.
According to him, the Udeagbala and Umuimo roads, in particular, are more or less alternatives from the Enugu-Port Harcourt Road into the busy Aba-Owerri Road and to ABSUTH Road.
He said that the MCC/Old Express Road would boost the economy of Aba, the commercial nerve centre of the state.
Governor Otti said: “One of the promises we made to Ndi Abia in our manifesto is that when elected as Governor. We shall work tirelessly to mobilize and deploy the necessary resources to drive the wholistic infrastructural development of Aba”.
The Abia leader maintained that his dream “is to develop Aba to be a modest city that supports contemporary and traditional businesses, family lives and leisure activities”.
He said that the commissioning was significant as “it is a way of letting Abians in general and Ndi Aba, in particular, appreciate how deeply committed we are to fulfill the promises that won us the enduring support of the people even in the face of heart rendering disappointments and frustrations”.

The Abia governor added that the commissioning ceremony “is a way of announcing to the world, to businesses at home and oversees that the wholistic restoration of Aba has begun making it known to serve investors that the moment they have long waited for is here”.
He maintained that “our motivation in government is to create a right environment for individuals to live out the full expressions of their dreams, support the growth of enterprises and set up a safe haven legitimately profitable and sustainable investments”.
Otti emphasised that “restoring the networks of urban roads in Aba and Umuahia for us was a strategic take-off point.
“Our conviction is that quality roads are not just critical for the quick movement of people but are indicative of the determination of the government to welcome people and businesses, enhance trade and commerce, and open new frontiers of low-cost production in ways that support micro, small, and medium scale enterprise.”
The state chief executive, who saluted the speed and quality of work delivered by the three construction companies, engaged in the projects expressed satisfaction with the speed of the road expansion work in Ossah-Okpara Square-Umuahia said: “We are working with these resource-rich construction firms because of their economic and social importance of all the roads in question.
“We are very careful not to repeat the mistakes of the past which saw the State losing huge sums of money to construction outfits”.
He assured that no part of the state would be neglected in his road construction policies, disclosing that already a few rural roads have been awarded for construction and assured the people of his commitment to making them happy by delivering more quality work.
