Great Nigeria Insurance (GNI) Plc has returned to the path of profitability, thanks to an exceptional gain as the insurer is poised to deliver returns to its shareholders.

For the year ended December 2023, GNI posted a profit after tax (PAT) of N2.05 billion as at June 2023, from a loss after tax of N738.51 million as at June 2022.

The insurer realised N2.70 billion in net fair value gains that added impetus to operating performance, but such transactions are one off and are not expected to recur.

However, insurance revenue was down 4.16 percent to N2.53 billion in June 2023 from N2.64 billion the previous as analysts say the company needs to review its pricing policy and jerk up premium

Investment income was up 31.72 percent to N1.91 billion at June 2025, due to the elevated fixed income yields and currency depreciation, have supported the bottom line for insurers, despite rising claims and operating expenses.

GNI is steadfast in ensuring that it continues to leverage insurtech to strengthen operations while at the same time magnifying shareholders earnings even amid a challenging environment.
