Benue Signs 17.10Km Road Contract For N193.6 million

GEORGE KAJO, Makurdi

Benue State Commissioner of Works and Transport, Engr Jude Shachia on behalf of state government signed the contract for the construction of a 17.10km road at Ijadoga, Orokam in Ogbadibo Local Government Area of the State.

The contract which has been awarded to Wanada Global Service Limited at the cost of N193,696,875 is expected to be fully completed within a duration of 12 months beginning from the date of signature and is to be built to first surface course dressing.

While assuring the contractor of the desired cooperation for effective delivery on the project, Engr Uungwa charged the contractor on strict adherence to terms and conditions adding that government would not hesitate to terminate the contract should the contractor default in any of the conditions as spelt in the contractual document

He praised Governor Ortom for embarking on massive construction of roads in the State saying he was happy to be part of the administration and pledged to work tirelessly in ensuring that the essence is achieved.

In his acceptance speech, the Project Manager and Director, Wanada Global Service Ltd, Samuel Enenche John said he was ready for the job, assuring the supervising Ministry, and the State Government of timely completion of the project within the stipulated period and according to specifications too.

In his remarks, permanent secretary of the Ministry, Mr. John Umoor said the road would be utilized by people of the area to improve on their economic wellbeing which is the objective it was set out to achieve.

The contract signing was witnessed by the legal officer of the Ministry, Barr. Mrs. Adagba Nguhemen and other top officials of the Ministry.

Engr Uungwa also received in audience the Makurdi Chapter of the Nigerian Society of Engineers led by its President, Engr Andrew Wuese.

He assured them of his Unflinching loyalty and support and promised to convey to the state Governor their requests and challenges mentioned to him for his kind attention and assistance.

Earlier on, leader of the delegation and Chairman, Nigerian Society of Engineers, Makurdi Branch, Engr Andrew Wuese had acknowledged the support given to them by Governor Ortom and made some requests including assistance to host the forthcoming Annual General Meeting holding in Makurdi as well as other cracking challenges the society has been subjected to.
