Group Exonerates Nasarawa State Guber Election Returning Officer of Bribery Allegations

A group, League of Concerned Professionals from Plateau state have denied bribery allegations leveled against the electoral returning officer of the Nasarawa State governorship election Prof Tanko Ishaya, in the election held March 18, 2023 election.

Leader of the League of Concerned professionals Barr Chesil Drenkat, in a press conference held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ Plateau State Council in Jos, the group noted that Prof Tanko Ishaya who is the Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos is a man of honor, therefore can’t be bribed by anyone.

“Prof Tanko Ishaya is a man of high pedigree with some paltry sums of money, if any, most likely in Nigeria Naira to influence this Principled, Focused and God-fearing man.”

“Prof. Tanko Ishaya over such unfounded and unsubstantiated claims of inducement and corrupt practices on the outcome of Nasarawa State Gubernatorial Election is one of such misguided, misdirected Claims by very bad losers in an Election that is particularly adjudged to be very competitive,” they said.

Chesil stressed that: “We submit therefore that Prof. Tanko Ishaya is no stranger to money and no Candidate in Nasarawa State irrespective of political party can entice, induce or influence.”

“We vouch that he is a Gentleman of Repute with very high Integrity, selfless, God-fearing, and a Gentleman Par Excellence.”

They informed that those accusing the returning officer of rigging the election are agents of darkness and Mischief.

Therefore, should will better informed to beam their search light elsewhere to identify possible areas of electoral fraud.

According to the group, Tanko Ishaya was being peddled in the social media by desperate politicians that he was induced with money to announce the incumbent governor Abdullahi Sule.

Leader of the group, Prof Tanko Ishaya returned to three different opposition political parties who won the Senatorial seat during the February 25, 2023 election.

“Prof. Tanko Ishaya, at the same Nasarawa State, while on National Assignment as INEC Returning officer for the Presidential and National Assembly elections, he returned as duly elected two (2) SDP Senators in the persons of Hon. Ahmed Wadada and Hon. (Sen) Godiya Akwashiki and all others who duly won their elections,” they explained.
