The Special Adviser, Directorate on Bilateral and Multilateral Affairs to Zamfara state Governor, Dr. Suleiman Shuaibu Shinkarfi, has disclosed that the N31 billion allegation of financial misappropriation levelled against Gov. Bello Mohammed Matawalle was not true.

Dr. Shinkarfi who described the allegation against the Governor as baseless, also said the allegation was false in its entirety.

This, followed the allegation by a Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamfara State, Mr Aminu Umar Game-game who challenged the Governor to explain to the public how he spent over Thirty One Billion Naira he collected in 31 Months.

Umar who is Principal Private Secretary to the embattled Deputy Governor of Zamfara state, said, all is not well in the state as the governor opted to enrich himself rather than executing developmental projects for the benefit of all in the state.

In his reaction, while addressing pressmen in Abuja at the weekend,  the Special Adviser to the Governor explained that such allegation is an attempt to hold the Governor liable without any proven misappropriation of public funds as alleged by the author of the story.

“This is clear and brazen abuse of opposition privilege in the state and by doing so, the opposition has done incalculable damage to the reputation of the Governor. It is an attempt by the opposition to demarket the Governor. This is a joke taken too far. It is politics and we are aware of the opposition’s gimmicks to mislead the public.

“Governor Matawalle is a prudent leader; tested and trusted and this being the reason he is so close to President Buhari and we all know that the President would never associate himself with a corrupt person or politician.”

Dr. Shinkarfi therefore urged the public and the good people of Zamfara state to disregard the allegation in its entirety, adding this is just speculation, just as he warned the opposition to desist from tarnishing the image of the Governor.

He added that if such unproven allegations continued, he ( Dr. Shinkarfi) would have no option than to seek redress on behalf of the Governor.
