A Non Governmental Organisation; Project Smile for Humanity Foundation, has sensitised pregnant women in Kaduna on the risk of over eating and other unhealthy habits during pregnancy.
The foundation who encouraged the pregnant women to always ensure that they eat moderately, explained that any pregnant woman who does not live a healthy life during pregnancy risk complication during delivering which can lead to death.
During the sensitization programme in Kaduna recently, the founder of the foundation, Comfort Ojo, explained that the scheme is under ‘Save a Mother Project, which according to her is the second edition.
Miss Ojo, while distributing emergency kits to the 50 beneficiaries, emphasised that unhealthy habits during pregnancy comes with risk, adding that they must be aware of the dangers.
She also urged the beneficiaries in attendance to ensure that their drugs are used prescribed, and to also ensure that their body are properly taken care of for save delivering.
Speaking further, Miss Ojo avvered that her NGO is also in the forefront of advocating for gender based related issues. ” We fight for the right of women and girl child,” she explained.
Also speaking, the Protocol Officer, Amaechi Henry Ebuka, explained that since the establishment of the foundation, it has been faced with funding challenges.
” Most of the activities that we carried out in the last four years, it has always been through self efforts from the members of the foundation. Though, today’s programme was done in collaboration with Basileia Vulnerable Person Rights Initiative, and we are appreciative of their support,” Ebuka explained.
One of the beneficiaries, Godia Ayuba applauded the NGO for the sensitization exercise and the distribution of the emergency kits, just as she prayed God to grant the NGO favour.
