A member of the Atiku Abubakar’s presidential campaign council, Ose Anenih, has said that the job of the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate is to unify Nigeria, not the party.

Ose Anenih stated this during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today.

The son of late PDP chieftain, Chief Tony Anenih, said that role of unifying the party is the responsibility of the national chairman and the National Working Committee of the party.

He was responding to vice presidential candidate of the APC, Kashim Shettima’s recent comment on Atiku when he said the PDP presidential candidate cannot unify Nigeria since he failed to unify the PDP.

He said, “My candidate (Atiku) is the presidential candidate of the PDP; his role is to unify Nigeria that is what he is running on. We have a national chairman and NWC who are charged with the day-to-day administration of the party and party management and any rancor you see within the PDP is about the party’s management. It is not about my candidate and it’s about my candidate to unify Nigeria.”

Anineh added that the All Progressives Congress (APC) had failed in delivering all its campaign promises.

He said, “The APC is not new to Nigerian space; they had a manifesto in 2015 but failed to deliver. They ran on the back of security, economy, anti-corruption and on every indices between 2015 and 2019.

“So when you have a party for almost eight years but has consistently failed to achieve or deliver on every single part of their promises, it is an exercise in futility. What exactly are we debating.?
