The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara, as the chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT). The appointment is in acting capacity.

This followed the resignation of Senator Walid Jibrin as the PDP BoT chairman.

Jibrin announced his resignation at the ongoing Trustees’ meeting in Abuja on Thursday, saying he resigned in order to resolve some of the knotty issues confronting the opposition party, especially the leadership crisis ahead of the 2023 general election.

There have been growing demands for the resignation of Jibrin and the PDP National Chairman, Iyorcha Ayu, since the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential candidate.

Atiku and Jibrin are from the northern region of the country.
