Abbey Bank Plc, has officially closed its major private placement offering, issuing 26.56 billion ordinary shares to shore up its capital base and expand its real estate financing footprint.

The primary offering—comprising 26,562,647,265 ordinary shares of 50 kobo each priced at ₦2.43 per share—raised a total gross consideration of ₦64.55 billion ($50.04 million).

According to an official regulatory announcement filed with the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) on September 16, 2026, the equity injection has significantly redistributed Abbey bank’s core shareholding matrix, introducing five new major block-holders.

 Anchor Shareholder Positions

The private placement allocated 72.35% of total post-issuance voting stock across five prominent individual and institutional investors:

  • Abdulganiyu Olajide Adeola: The renowned banker acquired 6,995,884,774 shares, establishing a dominant 19.05% equity stake.

  • Herel Limited: Real estate investment firm Herel Limited mirrored the lead placement position with 6,995,884,774 shares, securing an 18.48% ownership block.

  • Archetype Energy Services Limited: Energy sector service provider Archetype Energy acquired 6,333,476,332 shares, giving it a 17.25% holding.

  • CardinalStone Asset Management Limited: The institutional asset management unit of CardinalStone Partners secured 4,011,757,786 shares for a 10.93% stake.

  • Jotani Investment Limited: Investment vehicle Jotani acquired 2,437,166,233 shares, capturing a 6.64% position.
