The President of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), Dr Akinwumi Adesina, says the new memoir of African billionaire and investor Femi Otedola is a must read for policy and business leaders.
“The book is a must-read for all business leaders, policy makers and young people venturing into the world of entrepreneurship and business,” Adesina President of the AfDB said on the new Otedola book.
The book is set to be launched by August 18th, 2025.
The new book from Mr. Otedola will reveal the lessons, setbacks and triumphs that shaped the path of the serial entrepreneur.
“In these pages I have shared the real stories – the moments of doubt, the breakthroughs, and the principles that guided me through it all,” Otedola said on X.
“I look forward to opening this conversation with entrepreneurs and visionaries across the world, and to seeing how these experiences might inspire your own journey going forward.”
Where to order the book
The only place to pre-order a copy of the new book is on the official website – makingitbigbook.com. Other sites claiming to have the book in stock are fraudulent, and any orders placed will not be fulfilled, according to Otedola.
Okonjo-Iweala WTO head endorses book
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and former two times Finance Minister of Nigeria has also endorsed the new business book and memoir of African billionaire and investor Femi Otedola.
“When Femi Otedola, one of Nigeria’s and Africa’s most successful entrepreneurs, decides to capture his experiences in the form of this book, it is important! As the author himself notes, there are very few books by successful African business leaders documenting their journey and sharing lessons learned for posterity, but in particular for a younger generation,” Okonjo-Iweala said.
Femi Otedola, the iconic Nigerian businessman has graced the front cover of Forbes Africa, and is a philanthropist, and former chairman of Forte Oil PLC. He hails from one of Nigeria’s prominent families, and is the son of the late Sir Michael Otedola, former governor of Lagos State, and Lady Doja.
His vision transformed Forte Oil PLC into one of the highest performing companies on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, which grew exponentially to become a model of possibilities inherent in Nigeria, winning accolades, and crucially becoming the investment of choice within the Oil and Gas Industry, including the Nigerian Stock Exchange.
A business magnate, he founded Zenon Petroleum and Gas Ltd, and is the owner of several other businesses across shipping, real estate and finance.
Otedola is the largest shareholder and Chairman of FirstHoldCo Plc that owns one of Africa’s biggest banks First Bank as well as Chairman of power generating firm Geregu Power.
