FixPolitics welcomes the progress of the Electoral Act (Amendment – Early Voting Bill) 2024, sponsored by Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, which recently passed its second reading in the Nigerian Senate.
This bill seeks to amend the Electoral Act 2022 to allow eligible Nigerians on essential duties such as security personnel and election monitors to vote in advance, ensuring they are not disenfranchised due to work commitments.

While incremental reforms like this bill are valuable, lasting solutions require comprehensive constitutional reform, even if it necessitates the emergence of a new constitution to be ratified through a referendum by citizens.
